About our guns
We offer a wide range of guns and rifles, optics and moderators, and they all have two things in common; quality and value-for-money. I won't sell anything which I consider to be below standard.
You can test a demonstrate rifles at Ivythorn, without obligation, and can also leave with your new rifle professionally assembled, zeroed, and ready to use...
What we also offer
Ivythorn Sportings' range and clay grounds enable us to provide high quality tuition and corporate entertainment, and our 'exclusive sole occupancy' for no extra cost policy means our practice facility for both clays and rifle is always popular. All this in a safe, informal, and frankly stunning location...
Ivythorn Sporting is situated literally on the edge of the spectacular Somerset levels, just south of the village of street. — Steve Beaty, Owner
During 1964, Howa (Japan) had developed various military weapons supplying to the Japanese MOD and subsequently started developing precision rifles for the sporting firearms industry. During the 1970s, the 1500 Barreled Action was born and during this period, Howa would only supply this firearm to known Manufacturers and many models had been released including the Smith & Wesson 1500, the Mossberg 1500 and also Howa began supplying Weatherby that they marketed this gun as the Vanguard.
After this period, Legacy Sports began discussions with Howa to offer the brand “exclusively” throughout the world and contracts were subsequently signed. Since this period, Legacy Sports have taken the Howa name to be regarded as one of the most reliable and value based rifles currently available, building on the Japanese philosophy of precision manufacturing with a no compromise outlook.
To this day the Howa Range has seen many improvements with the adaption of the 3 position safety and also the latest improvement being the Howa Actuator Controlled Trigger and is available in many different barreled action configurations from Blued to Stainless, Sporter weight to Heavy weight and recently the inclusion of fluted barrels.
The partnership between Howa and Legacy Sports has allowed the Howa brand to expand its range by adding various stock configurations such as the popular Hogue rubber Overmoulded stock, the tactical Knoxx Axiom and Talon Stock, the beautifully finished Laminated series of stocks and now with the addition of Bell and Carlson, the options on configurations is limitless.
Howa is supplied in the UK exclusively through Highland Outdoors and full details of their products can be found at www.highlandoutdoors.co.uk.
About Hogue stocks
Hogue® produces the finest Handgun Grips in the world, along with a growing line of OverMolded® rifle and shotgun stocks, holsters, grip screws and other great firearm accessories.
Hogues' OverMolded stocks are truly revolutionary, no other maker can offer stocks with our superior patented features (United States Patent #6,301,817).
OverMolding provides the ultimate in a comfortable, non-slip, super smooth attractive finish that is durable and extremely quiet. The exclusive Cobblestone texture further enhances all Hogue stocks by providing an efficient non-slip, non-irritating stippling pattern.
OverMolded Stocks are constructed by molding a super strong, rigid fiberglass reinforced skeleton or "insert" that precisely fits the guns' action. This rigid skeleton is then OverMolded with a durable but soft synthetic elastomer (rubber). During the heat and extreme pressure of injection molding the elastomer adheres chemically as well as mechanically to the skeleton, resulting in a permanent bond between the rubber and the insert. The super strong skeleton gives the stocks their strength, and the precise molded dimensions provide a perfect drop-in fit of your rifle or shotgun. The state of the art elastomer material used on Hogue stocks won't harden with age and is virtually impervious to all oils and solvents found around firearms, providing years of dependable service.
Hogue OverMolded stock features are so desirable they are being offered as standard equipment on precision sniper rifles and several famous rifle companies have entered into a licensing agreements with Hogue to use this OverMolded technology on their quality products.
